Android apps can be side-loaded in Windows 11.

The announcement that Windows 11 will have built-in support for Android apps was met with great cheers. This is good news for those who want to play games like "Diablo Immortal" on their PCs without having to download ad-filled third-party programs. But it was also announced that these apps will be available in the Microsoft Store through a partnership with Amazon's Android app store; what about those apps that aren't on Amazon, or those who don't want to give Jeff Bezos their money?

Miguel de Icaza, a prominent Microsoft engineer, has assured on Twitter that the apps will work even if they are not obtained from Amazon. The Android program is bundled as an apk file, and apparently you can "bring your own" and sideload it.

In other words, if you have a library of apk's from places like itch.io or have a particular attachment to F-Droid's open source app library, they will work on Windows 11. Windows 11 release date, price, what it means for the game and everything else we know about it.
