Halo Infinite's story is not limited to the adventures of John Master Chief and his hologram girlfriend; Infinite's multiplayer will also tell an ongoing science fiction story, creative head Joseph Staten in a blog post this week.

In a fairly major update, 343 went deep into some of the features revealed in Halo Infinite's E3 multiplayer showcase. Explaining how the companion app "Halo Waypoint" has been reworked to allow Spartan customization outside of the game, live team design director Ryan Paradis described the previous model as "not fun and not player-first" As such, he outlines the thinking behind the permanent battle path in this work.

"We want [the path] to be a supplementary reward stream for the time you've already spent in the game. I can't stand the idea of playing a game just to complete a Battle Pass.

However, "Halo" veteran Staten concludes his post by saying that the multiplayer in "Infinite" will unfold as a continuation of a broader story, with each season advancing the narrative a bit. While this is not unusual for F2P shooters (see the incessant twists and turns of "Fortnite"), it is news for "Halo," which has treated multiplayer as primarily self-contained.

"At the heart of our plan," Staten said, "is the goal of deeply rooting multiplayer characters in the larger "Halo" universe and giving them an important and active role in future "Halo" stories. said Staten. 'How exactly will we accomplish this in the years ahead: ...... I can't go into details yet.

The first season, dubbed "Heroes of Reach," will open with a return to where the "Halo" tragedy began. In addition, sporadic "Fracture" events will be held, and Samurai power armor will make an appearance.

Staten claims that the first season will take place at the "transformative moment" of the story, and seems excited about the possibility of exploring settings other than Master Chief (an old soldier who can probably take a permanent nap).
