Halo Infinite team "feeling good" about holiday release, Phil Spencer says.

Due to the poor reception of last year's gameplay debut, the release of Halo Infinite was changed from late 2020 to an undetermined date in 2021. The release date was then narrowed to fall 2021 (spring in Australia), but since then there has been a lot of online speculation about the exact release date.

But according to Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, there is no need to panic. Microsoft doesn't have an exact release date, but that doesn't change the fact that the game is still in 2021.

"We know our range kind of in the 3-4 week range," Spencer said in an interview with Dropped Frames (via IGN).

"We don't have an exact date. There are some other game timings we are going to look at and some other things. We will have more clarity in the summer, but this is not a months thing, this is just down to a few weeks."

The release window is almost set, but Spencer said that setting a specific date now may lead to further disappointment - after all, the new Call of Duty will be released this holiday season, and Microsoft probably wants to get close to that We want to avoid releasing it too close." Picking this date and having to shift it by a week seems like a mistake at this point, and we don't want to do that." He added that 343 Industries is "very focused on the holidays."

While no amount of confirmation from the likes of Spencer and Joseph Steten will allay delay fears, it seems fairly certain that "Halo Infinite" will be released this year. The recent multiplayer display looks promising enough, especially if you're a fan of old-school "Halo 3."
