The "next generation" of Windows will be unveiled on June 24.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said last week that the "next generation of Windows" is in development and will be unveiled soon. And he wasn't kidding: Microsoft has now announced that it will hold an event on June 24th to introduce "What's Next for Windows."

Not surprisingly, neither the tweet nor the link gives any details of what to expect, but Nadella called it "one of the most important updates for Windows in the last decade" at a recent Microsoft build conference. in March, we learned that the upcoming Sun Valley update is "as close as we can get to Windows 11," and in a job posting in May, Microsoft said it is "on a multi-year journey to revolutionize the Windows UX platform."

Perhaps a bit hyperbolic, but Windows 10 has been on the market for six years and is truly elderly in Windows terms. While I really don't like the idea of my PC setup being messed with, I'm actually looking forward to seeing what comes out next. The live stream "what's next for Windows" will start at 8:00 am PT / 11:00 am ET.
