Destiny 2" Fashionista's Sense of Style Finally Pays Off Early

The main reason I'm playing "Destiny 2" right now is to find new clothes for my handsome Guardian. And with the upcoming mid-season patch, fashionistas will finally get the accolades they deserve for dressing well.

As detailed in "This Week at Bungie" (opens in new tab), where the team also announced a major crackdown on third-party peripheral cheaters (opens in new tab), fashion awards are coming soon. The commendations introduced in Lightfall are designed to reward players for being good teammates to their fellow Guardians and are also tied to the Guardian rank system. It encourages you to play together and lets other players know you are good. And soon, we will be able to award player drips.

Bungie anticipated that players would want this style of commendation when developing this system, but ran out of time before implementing it.

"When we first developed the awards, we had a sneaking suspicion that fashion-specific awards were strongly desired," says the Player Identity team. But by then we were past the point of adding anything new to Season 20, and could only tweak and adjust what was already there."

It was supposed to be included in Season 21, but apparently player feedback encouraged the team to move up the timing to a mid-season patch. according to Bungie, the Best Dresser award does not score big points, but "fashion is never about getting the highest score but just to get the most accolades".

There will also be restrictions placed on the activities that will be given this new award. Specifically, they are "matchmaking activities that do not rely on significant communication or team play. In other words, you cannot award a fellow member for something like a raid or dungeon that is tackled by a clan.

Updates will be coming next week, so be at your best!
