Street Fighter 6 promises "big news" with Lil Wayne on 4/20.

Street Fighter 6 (open in new tab) is less than two months away. Capcom is still releasing some pre-release information and will be airing a showcase on the biggest day of the year: 4/20. And for some reason, Lil Wayne will be hosting it. This will be the last showcase before the June 2 release of [Street Fighter 6], and will feature about 30 minutes of information from Lil' Chun-Chi himself and the developers. We will get new information on the game's World Tour, Fighting Grounds, and Battle Hub mode, and the YouTube stream promises "big news at the end of the show." [This isn't Weezy's first Street Fighter-related gig with Capcom. The rapper collaborated with Drake on a fighting game-themed tour in 2014. The tour was backed by Capcom, which provided support and Street Fighter-inspired graphics for the two.

It will be interesting to see what news Capcom has yet to reveal. The developer has finalized the launch roster, we've tried a handful of characters in two closed betas, and we've been tinkering with character creators. There are rumors that an open beta is in the works, as a Japanese streamer casually (open in new tab) leaked information that an open beta would be held during April.

Whatever the news, "Street Fighter 6" will undoubtedly be a big game. In particular, the game's World Tour mode seems like a great entry point to get away from a life of button mashing and get a taste of what fighting games are all about. Having played a bit in the closed beta, it looks incredibly promising and is currently my most anticipated game of 2023.

The final showcase for Street Fighter 6 will air on April 20 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST and can be viewed on YouTube (opens in a new tab) or Twitch. (opens in new tab) [11]
