Because Helldivers players saved children, Arrowhead Game Studios will make a donation to the charity Save the Children.

Earlier this week, Helldiver 2 was faced with a terrible choice: a critical order gave it the option of liberating the planet Maafark and acquiring a new strategy, or heading to Burnen Wells and saving the thousands of survivors trapped in the hospital for seriously ill children of the super-citizen Ann. Despite the promise of new ways to blow up, the legions of Helldivers prioritized saving the children and headed for Burnen Wells to avoid further "explosions."

"Since the Helldivers2 community chose to save the children, @arrowheadgs will do the same," tweeted Arrowhead COO Johan Pilestedt. 'We donated to Save the Children. Well done divers."

Founded in 1919, Save the Children is an international charity that raises funds to improve the lives of children around the world through medical programs, educational opportunities, and crisis assistance in conflict zones. The amount of donations represents the number of children saved by Operation Burnen Well.

Turns out Pilestedt pulled the trigger a little early: in a follow-up tweet, he said that Vernen Wells is actually over 99% liberated and just over the finish line. 'I want to apologize to the team for my blunder. 'I'm especially sorry to the marketing, community, and game master teams. I'm sorry to my friends.

But an hour later, the job was done: Vernen Wells was laid to rest and the children were saved.

As GamesRadar pointed out, there was massive propaganda on the Helldivers subreddit urging players to attack Vernen Wells heavily after the critical order was issued. Helldivers are heroes, and Helldiver players are nothing if not dedicated to that.

Curiosity was also a factor.

Other players seemed more into it simply as a way to embrace chaos. But there could have been a slightly different framework.

But in the end, the kids won, and while the hell-divers won't get a shiny new boom-boom from it, they seemed quite happy with the outcome, with several threads on Reddit giving the result and the Arrowheads a worthy reward praise.

"After MO, I was hoping for a little kid in a helldiver uniform on a boat, constantly praising us and bombarding us with fervent propaganda, but honestly, this is the only thing better than this," wrote Redditor Kenju22. Casual_apple134 wrote, "It's a simple and stupid fact, but the chaotic good intentions of the AH to ruin the third attempt to get the mines got more playing time. To "save the children.

Of course, there are more memes.

Some Hell Divers players have followed Arrowhead's lead by donating to Save the Children and encouraging others to do the same. It's a great thing.

The saved children thanked the noble Helldiver heroes of Super Earth in a message shared via the Helldivers 2 Twitter account. 'Dear Helldivers, thank you so much for saving us. We heard that you sacrificed a lot (mines and lives) to save us. We are always grateful. Now we can grow up to be Helldivers too. Together with Liberty, you are the super sickly children of the super-citizen Anne."

The good news for the Helldivers is that the anti-tank mines that would have been available if they had targeted Marfark instead of Burnen Wells are technically still on the table: although it takes a hell of an effort (I checked right after the Pirestedt message and the planet was below zero). However, Arrowhead's COO said that if the players could pull it off, "which they never will", they would save the children and get the mines.

As for what would have happened if the player had gone for the mines instead of the children, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani said that the donation would have been made anyway, just to someone else.

(I'm sure he doesn't mean it)
