Minecraft 1.21, Tricky Trials Update Released

Like the past few years, June brings a lot to Minecraft in the form of tricky trial updates. Today's release of Minecraft 1.21 integrates features distributed in the recent preview snapshot, adding new blocks, new bad guys, and new bludgeoning equipment.

Trial Chambers is the centerpiece of this update. These are new procedurally generated underground structures that may be found on subterranean expeditions, filled with traps, enemies, and rewards if you survive. In addition to new blocks and decorations, a trial sponer block has been added to the trial chamber. This is a new type of mob spawner that generates a specific number of enemies during its cooldown. When all enemies are defeated, the Trial Spawner generates loot as a reward.

The Trial Chamber is also where the new 1.21 enemies appear. Breeze is a wind cousin of Nether's Blaze, an enemy that shoots exploding wind projectiles. Breeze is a wind enemy like Blaze of the Nether, and shoots explosive wind projectiles. Joining the Breeze in Minecraft's rogues gallery is the Bogdo, a new breed of skeleton equipped with poison arrows. Bogdos also spawn in swamp and mangrove swamp biomes.

The most likely addition in 1.21 is the Crafter. It is an automated crafting table powered by redstone and can be fed materials by hand or from a hopper. With the addition of this table, expect to see Satisfactory-level factory automation from Minecraft's finest minds very soon.

Rounding out the new update is a new weapon, the mace, which is a falling smash attack for extra damage and knockback, and a new wolf variant that can now spawn in biomes where previously wolves could not be found.
