The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Elder Tree shows a certain benevolence in its system requirements, which are identical to those of the base game.

I think it's safe to say that Elden Ring's upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is one of the most anticipated expansions for 2024, given the huge success of the base game in 2022. For those of you who are prepared to be tested, at least it doesn't seem to stress the system any more than the original version.

The minimum system requirements on the Steam store page are the same as Elden Ring, which was considered a bit more demanding at the time of release, but months have passed since then.

I reconfirmed that the minimum CPU is Intel Core i5 8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, and the minimum GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB or AMD Radeon RX 580.

These are components that are quite old now, but I have fond memories of trying to get the Elden Ring to work well on a GTX 1060 6GB system when it was first released. Nevertheless, many updates have been released since then, and some of the later patches seem to have improved performance issues for low-end systems, but enabling ray tracing still seems to be a tough option for many people today.

Recommended requirements are an Intel Core i7 8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1070 or AMD RX Vega 56. By modern standards, this is still pretty low-end hardware, so those with newer rigs should be in good enough shape to go exploring in the Land of Shadows.

The download size for Shadow of the Erdtree is expected to be about 16.5 GB, and with SSDs being much lighter, it shouldn't take up much extra space on most systems. And if that's a little too much for you, may I be so bold as to suggest that now might be the time to consider finding a good deal on a cheap SSD?

Still, it's refreshing to see a DLC that doesn't raise the minimum specs, suggesting that "Shadow of the Eldest Trees" should run well on a system that could already play the original at blazing speed.

I wish you luck and good fortune in your upcoming adventure. I didn't have much time to devote to the original (damn you, life), so it looks like I'll have to do my job if I want to find out what all the fuss is about.
