Epic Games Store leaks hint at release of "Final Fantasy 9" remake, "The Last of Us Part 2" and more.

At one time, the Epic Games Store had its own SteamDB site called "EpicDB," first discovered by the Famiboards forum (via TheGamer), where publisher search results for EpicDB included games already released and The fun began when people noticed that unreleased titles were included along with those already released. Many of them were listed by their codenames, but online detectives were able to solve the mystery based on related listings, including the names of associated DLC.

Gematsu has a good breakdown: the links are all broken, but Momo, for example, is presumed to be a Final Fantasy 9 remake based on the presence of the pre-order bonus Thief's Knives and the early purchase bonus Tetra Master Starter Pack, while Skobelev Skoverov is presumed to be Final Fantasy 16 based on the fact that his cloud save folder is "{UserDir}/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XVI/EOS/{EpicID}/". Hey, not all of them are deep, dark riddles.

At least some of the games leaked from EpicDB are definitely fakes utilizing Epic's self-publishing tools; one "unknown organization" called out by Resetera has been credited with the creation of Helldivers 2, Elden Ring, " Starfield, Grand Theft Auto 2, Bloodborne Remake, and Elden Ring 2, but this may not be accurate.

But it seems legitimate enough to get people talking, and the fact that the supposed creator of EpicDB, or at least the person who claims to be on Discord, is ximton, who was quite active in Fortnite data collection and leaks a few years ago, possibly adding to the legitimacy. If the two are the same person, it lends credence to the idea that he knows how to tiptoe around Epic's tulips.

It's all totally speculative at this point, but it also reminds me of the big Nvidia leak in 2021. That, too, was "speculative," in Nvidia's words, shortly after the leaks began to spread, but two years later, it's all real, and we can expect them to keep banging on until 2024. Some of the titles in the EpicDB leaks are clearly bullshit! but most of them, the closer you look, the more you think, well, maybe.

Epic has done little to quash the speculation, stating in a statement provided to PC Gamer that the company "has released an update to prevent third-party tools from displaying new unreleased product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog." The company stated, "This is a wise decision. This would be a wise decision, but they are not denying it. Reference.
