The boss of Soft doesn't talk much about his private life, but it's now acknowledged in public.Miyazaki says, "Keep me in my best behavior."

When Miyazaki Hidetaka flew to Los Angeles for this year's Summer Game Fest, his presence became news. While some speculated that Miyazaki was there to reveal the new game (although he was really there just to promote Shadow of The Erdtree), the selfie taken at It Hotel has garnered more than 100 million views on Twitter. That kind of fame is new for the creator of Dark Souls, even though his game has been popular for more than a decade at this time.

Before he flew to Los Angeles over the weekend to excite people, I spoke with Miyazaki for a cover story for Pc Gamer Shadow of The Erdtree, fromsoftware and how did this expansion Elden Ring's success — with 25 million sales and counting — change his life?

Unfortunately, Miyazaki did not reveal whether he spent his share of the loot on the Honda Civic. But he reflected on the level of fame that came with such a successful game.

"In terms of my own worldview and how the world has changed, I think it's fair to say that when I go out, I get significantly more recognition than before," he said. "Especially from people from abroad. They will continue to work on it alone.I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do that. It gives me this feeling of people enjoying and playing these games I didn't have before.

"Also, when I know that people know who I am, it keeps me in my best behavior as well.

In an interview with CNET at the Summer Game Fest, Miyazaki talked a little more about this change in his life - he also downplayed his fame, but "it's not like the paparazzi were waiting for me at the airport.

"I know very well what it's like to be unnoticed or no one pays attention to you, so this 180 degree being noticed, I know innate how much it's worth there," he said. "Of course, it's really nice that we've achieved that level of success and celebrity as a company and team.

When we talked, he also brought the topic back to FromSoftware and the developers who created the Elden Ring with him.

"Most of all, I think it showed me what people in this company can do. When we set out to create a game of that range and scale, we really rose to that challenge. Obviously I'm not making these things myself. I have a lot of staff who have grown here and developed in the game, and I am forever grateful for them. In terms of the staff and directors who produced, they are now going to go to create something new and better. I really personally look forward to seeing the following for FromSoftware. I think the Elden Ring was a big step towards achieving that."
