Deep Rock Galactic's first major post-launch update in October.

Update: Ghost Ship Games has delayed the release of the update by two weeks to October 22.

"With school holidays just around the corner in Denmark, some of our key staff will be away for a week and it is not feasible to launch such a major update without them. This, along with our increased vigilance on COVID-19 and our refusal to be involved in Ghost Ship Games' crunch time, led to a two-week delay of the update."

The good news is that this postponement will give the team more time to gather feedback and make adjustments regarding the update currently available in the experimental branch.

Here's the original: [This update will add new tools, systems, tasks, and the Deep Rock Galactic Fall Collection of cosmetics, featuring a gorgeous lineup of new beards, hairstyles, and headwear.

A new mission, "On-Site Refining," requires players to fill an on-site refinery with liquid molkite, which must be connected to an industrial pump jack via a "huge, winding pipeline." Another new mission type, Escort Duty, is a high-risk, high-return Omolan Heartstone quest. The only way to obtain the Heartstone is with the Drill Dozer, an autonomous machine that can penetrate the Omolan's outer shell.

Developer Ghost Ship Games has posted several short gameplay videos showing off the new mission types:

Update 32: Roughnecks at Work, as it is technically called, has "an array of weapon balance, new mile Stones and Achievements, as well as new Dwarf Shouts to keep your party motivated." And there will be a new "Roughnecks at Works Assignment" that explains how to complete these new types of missions, preferably without dying horribly.

Players who can't wait for the October 8 update can jump into it on September 29 through Deep Rock Galactic's Experimental Branch (a sort of "Early Early Access" that will be added to the game). Note, however, that the experimental branch may be incompletely functional, have strange bugs, or be prone to crashes.

If you think it's too late, you can more safely watch the upcoming developments on a live stream of the on-site refining mission on Twitch tomorrow, September 25, at 6:00 am PT/9:00 am ET. For those who don't want to get up that early, both sessions will also be posted on Ghost Ship's YouTube channel.
