No one, including the developer, knows when Extreme Rise of the Triad will be released.

There was an FPS called "Rise of the Triad" in 1995. Everyone loved it. Then they released an expansion called "Extreme Rise of the Triad" that added over 40 new levels. These expanded levels were designed by Joe Seigler and Tom Hall, who worked for a company called Apogee.

Was Extreme Rise of the Triad released in mid or late 1995 or early 1996? Because no one knows. Not even Joe Seigler, who co-designed it. "Does anyone have any true and verifiable information on the exact release date of Extreme@RiseOfTheTriad?" He followed up, "Not on 2/17/95.

A few days later, he followed up with an earlier date that he thought might be November 1, 1995, which was also not the release date. Several people offered ideas, but none of them worked, and there is not a lot of evidence at hand. Obviously some game-historical research would be needed to find out.

Confusion about the exact release date may surprise you, but it is not uncommon. There is not even an exact release date for a very famous game like Super Mario Bros. or even the small bean-country game business of the niche PC market. Those were the days before the Internet, when everything happened when it happened, not simultaneously through interconnected digital systems. Games were released when retailers stocked them and put them on store shelves. As for what Sigler did not know, well, that is quite reasonable. He was a level designer, and according to his bio on the vintage 3D Realms website, he had about a billion other jobs at the company.

I'm just impressed that he still wears those black sunglasses after all these years. Anyway, if you have proof, let Joe know.
