Blizzard Mourns Streamer Reckful at World of Warcraft NPC

Thousands of "World of Warcraft" players gathered in early July to pay tribute to Byron Bernstein, the renowned streamer who committed suicide on July 2 at the age of 31. Now, Blizzard has paid a lasting tribute in the form of adding a new Rogue Trainer NPC named after him to the Cathedral of Light in the Shadowlands expansion.

This is Blizzard's second tribute to Bernstein, following the Byron Burnside NPC in Tiragarde Sound. However, the Wreckful character relates more directly to his in-game persona: as Wowhead explains, the line "I don't train assassination rogues" is a reference to the strong rogue meta of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, and Bernstein rejected the Subtlety Rogue build to prove that he did not need to rely on the best build to succeed.

The interaction also includes an inspiring custom dialog. When players speak with a Reckful NPC, they can say, "It's good to see you again."

If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (USA), Crisis Services Canada (California), Samaritans (UK), or Lifeline (Australia). If you are outside of these areas, check this list for hotlines in your country.
