Konami enters the desktop PC business

Konami's division responsible for the famous pachinko machines is jumping into a new market: PC gaming. According to Japan's PC Watch (via Tom's Hardware), the company is currently taking pre-orders for three desktop models, which will begin shipping this September.

Arespear's product line is being handled by Konami Amusement, which also handles arcade systems and the company's esports business. Models range from 184,000 yen (about $1,750 US) to 338,800 yen ($3,205 US), depending on specifications.

And what are they: the Arespear C300 is the lower-priced model, with an i5-9400F processor, GTX 1650, 8GB of DDR4-2666 memory, and a 512GB SSD; the Arespear C700 and C700+ are water-cooled i7-9700, RTX 2070 Super, and 16GB DDR4-2666 memory. These models have the same 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD as the C300, but also include a 1TB hard drive.

The differences between the C700 and C700+ are mostly cosmetic, and for an additional 22,000 yen (about $210) you get RGB lighting and a windowed case. All models have a discrete sound card, the Asus Xonar AE.

This is an interesting and unexpected move for Konami, but not an illogical one. Pre-orders have begun, but it is unclear if the game will ship outside of Japan.
