Gearbox's "Brothers in Arms" to be adapted for TV

Gearbox's classic FPS series "Brothers in Arms" is being adapted into a TV drama. A bit of it. It's a recreation of the classified WWII "Exercise Tiger" operation, but it will be called "Brothers in Arms" and Gearbox will be involved.

The actual connection to the game, inspired by actual events during the war, seems rather tenuous, but once again we follow a squad of soldiers as they face a grueling ordeal. In this case, they attempt to rescue a colonel from the Nazis before they uncover the Allies' D-Day plans.

The mission itself sounds very Hollywood, but the fact that it relates to Exercise Tiger makes it a little more compelling: a D-Day rehearsal went tragically awry, and the death toll was high, both from friendly misfire and German attacks. nearly 800 people lost their lives, buried for years.

"The D-Day Rihaçal was a tragic failure.

Scott Rosenbaum, producer and screenwriter of "Queen of the South," "Chuck," and "The Shield," is the series showrunner, with Gearbox CEO and amateur magician Randy Pitchford will join as executive producer.

The series spawned three games in the mid-00s and a long list of spin-offs; Gearbox is currently best known for "Borderlands," but its attachment to "Brothers in Arms" remains strong and, frankly, it is the superior shooter.

Back in 2015, Pitchford said he was interested in returning to the series, but no new installments have materialized since the 2014 mobile game "Sons of War."

Gearbox also cancelled the fourth game in the main series in 2015 after receiving much negative feedback was canceled. They planned to scrap the realistic approach of the series in favor of a caricature of World War II. After being shelved, many of its elements ended up in Battleborn.

It is unfortunate that a TV show is being produced instead of a new game, but "hopefully, Gearbox may return. The show currently has no network or release date.
