Logitech Develops Cheap Mouse for Gamers Who Can't Stop RGB Lighting

If the "Wild Speed" series has taught us anything, it's that colorful lights make things go faster. Of course it doesn't, but don't worry, RGB lighting is one of the basic necessities Logitech has included in the G203 Lightspeed, an affordable ($39.99) mouse for gamers.

The same cannot be said for the advanced features that you'll find on more expensive mice, such as a plethora of buttons and adjustable weights for MMOs. However, this does not look like a basic productivity mouse masquerading as a gaming peripheral.

It has six programmable buttons, an adjustable 200-8,000 DPI, and a polling rate of 1,000 Hz (1 ms). While this is a common metric for gaming mice, Corsair's recently announced Dark Core RGB Pro and Dark Core RGB Pro SE have managed to increase the polling rate to 2,000 Hz.

Logitech also claims to have optimized the button tension on the two primary clickers. Of course, the settings can be customized through Logitech's G-Hub software.

We're not sure how exactly it differs from the G203 Prodigy, the best gaming mouse on the budget. The color scheme may be slightly different on the white model, but otherwise the specifications appear to be the same; we contacted Logitech and were told that the G203 Prodigy is the white model. [Update: The main difference is that the G203 Lightsync has more RGB lighting zones (three versus one), which allows for more lighting effects. (The white model also has some cosmetic differences; "the cables and feet are now white to match the product, and the plastic around the scroll wheel has gone from black to gray.")

The G203 Lightsync, on the other hand, is available now.
