OtherSide is "still here" working remotely, but fate of System Shock 3 still unknown

Update: Somol is no longer part of the Austin-based System Shock 3 team, but part of OtherSide Boston, and the fate of the team and the sequel remains unclear; OtherSide has yet to address rumors of a development hiatus that circulated in February.

Original Story After recent layoffs at OtherSide Entertainment put the future of the System Shock sequel in jeopardy, Walter Somol, vice president of marketing and business development, posted on the company's forum, stating:

We are still here. We are still here. Our new concept is coming along nicely and we are really excited. We have a cool and distinctive art style in mind, and we're putting that and the gameplay together in UE4. I know I'm teasing, but I can't say anything at this point.

An anonymous post on the RPGCodex forums, supposedly from an OtherSide Austin employee, previously claimed that the Texas studio that was working on System Shock 3 had closed down; Somol is now working at a studio in Boston.

Meanwhile, Nightdive, which is working on a remake of the original System Shock and an enhanced edition of its sequel, is also working on an enhanced remaster of Acclaim's comic adaptation Shadow Man.

Thanks, VGC.
