Remedy announced in its latest earnings report that it has three games currently in development, including a Destiny/Division-style live-service game.

"Control" was quite good for Remedy last year, and CEO Tero Virtala noted that "Control" and "Alan Wake" were two of the biggest contributors to last year's revenue (oddly enough, "Quantum Break," which came between the two games is not mentioned). Thus, three more games are currently in development.

The first, already announced, is the single-player component of Smilegate's FPS "CrossFireX," which will be released later this year on Xbox One. "CrossFireX" is immensely popular in China and other East Asian countries, with registered accounts totaling CrossFireX is intended to be a major push for the series in the West, and it makes a lot of sense for a studio like Remedy to be involved with the game.

Not much is known about the other two games: the first is that they are unknown and undetailed games using Remedy's "own brand" and could be anything from a new Alan Wake game to an entirely new series. In other words, it could be anything from a new Alan Wake to an entirely new series. It will most likely be a single-player action adventure, like we've come to expect from Remedy.

The second is Vanguard, Remedy's own attempt at the games-as-a-service genre. While it is hard to imagine what Remedy's "unique game features" might entail, each of Remedy's recent games has been radically different from the last, both in tone and mechanics, so for Vanguard to solve such a thing is a "very different experience. about where the studio is now, as Virtala says both this game and the others are still "in preproduction."

These three projects do not mean that Control's work is finished; Virtala says that the game's sales have "settled into a good level" and that the two paid expansions announced in September are still in development. At least one of these expansions is expected to be released by mid-year and may include a crossover with Alan Wake.

This is a good thing. Because I will not die happy until there is more news on "Alan Wake."
