PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer PUBG Corporation has decided to postpone its first competitive event of the year amid concerns over the coronavirus.

In a statement, PUBG Corporation promised four major events on the PUBG competitive scene this year, while PGS: Berlin was scheduled to take place this April but will be rescheduled. Qualifying for the event may also be postponed after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the spread of the new coronavirus a "global health emergency."

This is not the first esports event to be postponed due to the virus; earlier in February, PUBG's China tournament was canceled, and Blizzard canceled the Overwatch League matches that were scheduled to take place in the country; League of Legends' LPL League also had its matches postponed, while Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 cancelled their events at the 2020 World Electronic Sports Games in Macau altogether.

Currently, there are 14 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Germany, but no deaths have been reported. In China, where the virus originated, 40,000 people have been infected and 908 have died so far. Large areas of China and millions of people remain under quarantine.
