Doorkickers 2" Reannounced, Turn-Based Tactics in the Middle East

"Doorkickers 2: Task Force North" has been re-released with a new trailer, bringing unique simultaneous turn-based melee tactics to the Middle East.

The game was originally announced in 2016 and was slated for release in the winter of that same year. However, that did not happen and it is only today, more than three years later, that the game is being reintroduced. [The developer, Killhouse Games, plans a Steam Early Access release for the second quarter of 2020, with a release date between April and June.

At first glance, Doorkickers 2 does not look much different from the first Doorkickers: before you begin your action, you plan how your squad will move from room to room and eliminate enemies along the way. However, since the enemy's movements are planned at the same time, you never know what they are planning. It takes a little tactical thinking, a little guesswork, and a little luck to succeed.

The big difference is in the setting: the shift from operating a SWAT team to a special operations counterterrorism unit brings its own challenges, as well as new gadgets and weapons to play with. Double agents, insurgents in disguise, and innocents to watch out for complicate the missions, and the introduction of nighttime and darkness adds a degree of stealth not present in the previous game.

Although not part of the Early Access release, Killhouse Games has announced that competitive multiplayer, the first in the series' history, will appear later in development and will join single-player and co-op at launch.

As with the previous titles, the emphasis is also on unlimited playability. In addition to all missions being playable in both single-player and co-op, there will be extensive mod support, including procedurally generated levels and "partial source code access" for player-generated content.

A specific date for the early access launch of Doorkickers 2 has not yet been announced.
