Village Monsters" mixes "Stardew Valley" and "Undertale" in a charming atmosphere.

A charming, lo-fi village life game about outcasts and weirdos in a literally broken world? That's Village Monsters. It's a low-key village life game where you fish, garden, and clean house. You also get to know "dozens" of monster neighbors and learn their stories, likes and dislikes. It is in itself a forgotten video game. It seems that you can exploit glitches in the game world to enhance your own powers and solve things. Finally, and perhaps most curiously, there is an emphasis on simulating the world itself, with "shifting weather patterns, changing seasons, interesting system interactions," and an emphasis on exploring places outside the monster village. Many of the few reviews and comments are quite positive. Check it out.

Village Monsters is a one-man project by developer Josh Bossie. It was funded through a modest Kickstarter campaign a few years ago, has been in development ever since, and just made it to major platforms last November. As of this writing, the game is in Early Access development, receiving regular updates, and can be checked out (and purchased) on Steam, Itch.io, and GameJolt.
