The success of The Witcher on Netflix has led to a remarkable resurgence in popularity for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, which has returned to the top 10 on Steam with a record number of concurrent users. But that's not the only reason Geralt is enjoying newfound popularity. In an announcement earlier this week (via Kotaku UK), publisher Orbit Books said it will reprint more than 500,000 copies of Andrzej Sapkowski's novel to meet new demand in the US. [With The Witcher, Andrzej Sapkowski created one of the most memorable characters in modern fantasy. The series inspired one of the most popular video games of recent years, and we are excited that The Witcher will be introduced to a whole new audience with the Netflix adaptation that launched in December," Orbit said.

"Demand for all eight books in the series has steadily increased over the last year in anticipation of the Netflix launch. Since their launch, they have sold phenomenally well in all formats, including print, e-book, and audio, and Orbit's U.S. division is currently printing more than 500,000 additional copies to meet the extraordinary demand.

The publisher did not say how the number would be distributed among Sapkowski's works, which include two short story collections and six novels; it has published a guide called "Books to Read After Watching The Witcher on Netflix," which, if you have not seen The Witcher game but it is not unlike our guide on where to start reading. It's also a good place to start if you're not at all familiar with The Witcher games: this interactive map will help you understand the timeline, which can be a little (or a lot) confusing for first-time viewers. Stay tuned for updates on "The Witcher Season 2," including new cast members, new characters, new release dates, etc!
