CD Projekt Red announced today that the highly anticipated RPG "Cyberpunk 2077" will not be released in April and will instead be released in September.

CD Projekt Red announced earlier today that the highly anticipated RPG "Cyberpunk 2077" will not be released in time for its scheduled April release and will instead be released in September. In a Q&A session with investors, the studio said that the planned launch of the multiplayer component will also be postponed, probably after 2021.

The studio revealed during the conference call that the second "triple-A" project it was reportedly working on last year was a cyberpunk multiplayer component being developed alongside the single-player game. At the time, CD Projekt stated that this second project would be released in 2021, but that is now highly unlikely.

"Given the scheduled release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September and the expected series of events that will follow, 2021 seems unlikely as a release date for a Cyberpunk multiplayer game," said SVP of Business Development MichaƂ Nowakowski said during a conference call. He then reiterated that the multiplayer will "probably be after 2021."

The postponement also means that the hands-on events scheduled for this year will also have to be postponed, which is not that surprising, but the studio said it will also have a "presence" at E3 and Gamescom this year.

The good news is that CD Projekt believes the release date for the new Cyberpunk 2077 is a real certainty. Says Nowakowski, "We pretty much know where we stand and what aspects of the game still need work. 'We are confident that the game will be released on September 17.'
