Razer's Huntsman Elite is a top-notch gaming keyboard that operates at lightning speed. However, premium switches like this come at a premium price, and it is nice to see the Huntsman Elite being offered at a discount.

Amazon has it for $159.99. Admittedly, this is still a premium price for a mechanical keyboard. But it's also $40 less than MSRP and $25 less than the price on Newegg (where it sold for the regular price of $199.99 until December.)

Optomechanical keyswitches take a slightly different approach than standard mechanical keyswitch designs. Instead of using metal contacts, there is a laser beam under each switch. When the beam is interrupted by a blocking fin, the keystroke is immediately recorded.

This design allowed Razer to reduce the distance between the actuation and reset points to almost 0 mm, allowing consistent switch action in both directions of travel. In addition, stabilizer bars are attached to each switch to prevent key wobble.
