Asus and Nvidia Announce First 360Hz G-Sync Monitor

Nvidia and Asus announced the Asus ROG 360, the world's first 360Hz G-Sync monitor ahead of CES. Not surprisingly, a display with such a high refresh rate is designed primarily with competitive gaming in mind, which requires a powerful GPU to take advantage of it.

360 Hz seems a bit excessive, but there was a time when anything higher than 60 fps was considered pointless. It may not be of much use in single player games, but it could be advantageous in MOBAs and competitive shooters.

According to Nvidia, frames will be displayed every 2.8ms on the upcoming monitors, making games sharper and more responsive to superhuman reflexes; thanks to G-Sync, esports pros won't have to worry about screen tearing, either.

It's a 24.5-inch, 1080p monitor, but even at standard resolution, you'll need a low-load game like CS:GO and a high-end GPU to get the most out of this display Nvidia, unsurprisingly, recommends the RTX series, which is a more powerful and more powerful display that can handle the most demanding games and games.

Unfortunately, I don't think even the world's fastest monitors will overcome the fact that I'm a sloppy guy in my mid-30s, but if you feel your Overwatch performance is being held back by an older monitor, this one might be worth looking at.

No word yet on pricing - it won't be cheap, given that it's targeted at the competitive crowd, but it's due out this year and is being shown off at CES this week.
