'WWE 2K20' has a more broken start to the year than usual

WWE 2K20 may be in slightly better shape than it was when it first launched (albeit at a lower hurdle). However, according to subreddits and players on Twitter, at the start of 2020, WWE 2K20 once again used its old tricks and crashed when trying to play most modes. It appears that the game was unable to handle the year change and temporarily panicked.

January 1 is a difficult time for everyone, from the hangover to knowing that work is just over the horizon; for WWE2K20, it was too much, but a temporary solution was posted on Twitter by TheShiningDown. They needed to convince people that the game was still in 2019.

Thankfully, the wrestlers no longer needed to trick the game and 2K's support team announced that the issue had been resolved.

We had to roll back in November when the 1.03 patch started corrupting save data, and things were even worse at launch. Still, it remains one of the best new releases of 2019 on Steam, based on total sales. Critically, however, it has been critically panned.

Last year, it was "Fallout 76" that had problems accessing the nuke on January 1. In that case, the problem at least felt appropriate for the game. A New Year's truce agreement that everyone would stop dropping bombs sounded great. Sadly, this did not catch on.
