Atari's flagship hotel is like a 1980s fever dream.
[With the help of the producers of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot film, the holding company that currently owns the rights to license the Atari name and logo has announced a lineup of Atari-themed gaming hotels. Courtesy of architecture and design firm Gensler, renderings of the "mothership" Atari hotel in Las Vegas have been released: cyberpunk concept art of a dystopian mall tower.

This seems to be the norm in Las Vegas, but a second Atari Hotel has been announced for Phoenix, and the management company GSD Group has plans for Austin, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle.

These hotels will likely feature "state-of-the-art amenities for esports fans and content creators." There will be retro arcades, virtual reality and augmented reality games, a merchandise store, and themed restaurants and bars (including nightclubs and speakeasies) for an authentic Prohibition-era Atari experience. It would be decorated with faux wood paneling from the original Atari 2600 console.

"Like Atari's legacy in innovation, Atari Hotels is infusing synthetic reality into every aspect of the hotel to create an immersive hospitality and gaming experience for guests," said Shelley Murphy, managing partner of GSD Group.

"From our virtual interactive world to our physical locations, every element of Atari Hotels provides a unique and authentic experience for all."

In other Atari news, earlier this month it was announced that the modernized Atari VCS console, first pre-ordered in 2018, will finally be sent to the project's backers; no one on the Subreddit seems to have received one yet.
