Apex Legends Season 6 will be the end of the lovable murder train

Along with Rampart's ability and the Volt SMG, the sixth season of Apex Legends introduces several changes to World's Edge. Of particular note is the train, which has been dismantled and thrown across the map. Farewell, murderous caboose.

The existing train tunnels will now contain individual cars filled with gear and loot, and hopefully more battles will be fought as players travel and visit. It's a sad day for those who love the chaotic early game scraps that the trains always promised.

For reaction, we asked UK editor Phil Savage and former editor Samuel Roberts:

Rest in peace, Apex Train. The Drill Site has been replaced by another Hammond facility called Countdown, The Mirage Voyage has disappeared, and that part of the map is oddly plain.

Respawn has introduced blast walls at Skyhook, Lava Fissure, and Train Yard. These large mechanical walls are spread fairly widely across certain zones and seem to give a significant advantage over opponents when defending certain areas.

One of the big updates for Season 6 is crafting, and the trailer gives a good idea of how this will work. An orange capsule named "Replicator" is shown, offering weapons, armor, ammunition, and other items in exchange for extracted crafting materials. The trailer shows a trio interacting with the capsule at the same time and immediately taking on another squad. It is reasonable to expect that these drops will be hotspots for gunfights.

Players who want to main Rampart, Apex's new Legendary, will be pleased to see that her abilities look quite powerful. There is a video of her setting up a shield that can be deployed with a turret that can be used by the entire squad. Yes, one per person! The beginning of the video also shows her setting up a heavy turret to take on another squad.

That's all we know about Apex Legends Season 6, and you can check out all the new map changes here ahead of the new season's launch on August 18.
