Fortnite Device Event Pushes Storm Back, Causes Biblical Flood

Fortnite's Device event brought a biblical amount of water to the map, but perhaps not in the way you might have imagined; instead of raising the water level, Epic replaced the traditional purple electrical storm that pushes players against each other with a wall of water full of giant fish that can swim replaced by a wall of water full of giant, swimmable fish. We also got a taste of authentic lore, with Jonesy making an appearance. Season 3 of "Fortnite" will probably be rained out.

Watch the video above to see how the event went, or read the summary below.

The event started in typical over-the-top fashion, following most of the leaks and threads we have seen from data miners before. The five hatches around the agency rose from the ground to form tall electric pylons, with alarm sounds and henchmen's dialogues.

Then Midas's doomsday device detonated the Agency, leaving a smoldering crater. The device was a giant steel tower with a huge glass electric ball at the top that rose 100 yards into the air and then transmitted electricity to all the pylons.

The electricity released from the pylon appeared to push the purple stormwall back from the engine while the player hovered in the air. However, the player was suddenly teleported to the first-person perspective of Jonesy's modest office room, where Jonesy was outside talking anxiously.

"Oh, no, everything is unstable over here," Johnsy can be heard saying. 'Janice, Janice! Dial the resonance actuator to 7.2."

Later, Jonesy calls someone on the phone and says, "Wait, it's not just a storm? What do you mean?

On a desk table in the office, three top secret files featuring Midas, a woman in a photo of Midas's own desk, and Lynx, a female cat-suited skin character, can be seen. According to voices coming from outside the office, there is something unusual going on around the map.

The player teleports back to a traditional third-person agency, where he is suddenly surrounded by a wall of water, reminiscent of Moses' biblical adventures. Fish, whales, and even Deadpool's yacht could be seen floating in the huge body of water.

The player then teleported to a first-person view of the office, where it became clear that the voice coming from outside the office was none other than Jonesy, the blond gentleman who has appeared in numerous Fortnite trailers and screenshots since the beginning.

Jonesy seems shocked to see you and asks if you can really hear him. From what we can see, the player's skin has been changed to Midas, so Jonesy must be talking to the golden-handed agent. It is odd, and we don't have many answers, but it is possible that season 3 will provide more answers.

One change we now know about is that the players have been returned to the Storm the Agency game, but this time with the same giant wall of water slowly pushing them toward the center.

I tried it myself and was actually able to swim through the "storm". Seems like it's still damaging, but it's a cool way to get a little verticality when you don't have the materials to build a path.

How did you like the Fortnite device event? Did it live up to your expectations? Did it raise your expectations for Season 3?
