Vampire RPG "Nighthawks" Bares its Fangs in New Teaser

Nighthawks, a modern vampire RPG that ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2018, will quietly emerge from the shadows next year. Until then, you can get an overview of the game, which will be published by Wadjet Eye, in the new teaser above.

Written and designed by Sunless Skies (and PC Gamer) contributor Richard Cobbett, with art by Ben Chandler, whom you've no doubt seen if you've ever played a Wadjet Eye game, the chatty It's an RPG. Veteran adventure game designer Dave Gilbert will serve as executive producer.

Unlike the equally bloodthirsty RPG "Bloodlines 2," the vamps in "Nighthawks" do not hide their true nature from humanity. The bats have been let out of the bag, and the humans already know it. You play as a newcomer vampire who has moved to a town that seems to tolerate the undead and offers them a fresh start. But from the looks of the new Steam page, things are not going so well.

At least you have a job. You run a nightclub, albeit a failed one, and it is the foundation of your empire. The game features not only copious amounts of text, but also fully voiced characters that you can befriend, scout, and, of course, murder. In between chats, you can also engage in strategic combat with humans and fellow vamps. And while you may start out as just a nightclub owner, you can influence the world, leading it to a unified future where humans and undead become friends, or ruining plans for coexistence.

I definitely like what I've seen so far, and I commend Chandler for creating a Tim Curry-like figure of the undead.
