Animal Crossing: Isabelle of "Animal Crossing" high-fives Doom Guy and shoots demons in new mod.

While we all spend our time cooped up and away from people to slow the spread of COVID-19, at least the timing of video game releases is on our side: "Doom Eternal" and "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" are out this week, and while the latter is not a PC game, the fine balance between the two cannot be ignored. Doom Eternal is a ferocious and cathartic demonic murder simulator, while Animal Crossing is a zen garden slowly burning with manageable debt.

The Internet has assumed that Doomguy and Animal Crossing's Isabelle are friends since the release dates of both games coincided, and now that meme dream team has become a reality Modder It's Me Veronica has created a mod for GZDoom and brought Isabelle into the game as a companion.

Isabelle acts like Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite. Isabelle will throw you health, ammo, and armor, blow up demons with her confetti poppers, and even ask Doom Guy for a high-five after a nice fight. Isabelle even knows how to use a shotgun when the time comes.

She can't even die, which is in keeping with the spirit of Animal Crossing. It brightens up Doom a bit and fills it with an air of optimism (and clouds of confetti). It's great to go back and forth between panicked despair in literal hell and the surge of friendship at party time with the cartoon dogs, just on the edge. Bless these mods.

To get Isabelle into Doom, you need to own the Doom game and the respective WAD files. Then you need to install GZDoom, a Doom port made specifically for the latest hardware and mods. GZDoom will automatically detect the games installed, but if you have problems, please refer to the installation manual. preparing GZDoom is ready, simply download the Isabelle MOD, drag "isabelle.pk3" onto "gzdoom.exe" and launch it. Enjoy the best of both worlds.
