The Razer Deathadder has a beloved legend in PC gaming mouse lore. We're sure you've all handled one of these snake logoed mice at one time or another. For us at PCG, the Deathadder V2 is one of the best gaming mice you can get for under $100. However, with the current emphasis on ergonomics and comfort, Razer's latest mouse attempts to keep the Deathadder's greatness intact, but in a smaller size. The Deathadder V2 Mini, which was only available in China, has finally made its way to the United States.

Weighing in at a super-light 62g, the Deathadder V2 Mini is smaller in size and weight than its big brother, the V2. It also features the delightfully named Speed Flex cable, which is lightweight and flexible enough to not affect mouse movement; there's nothing more disgusting than a stiff mouse cable that looks like it's playing tug-of-war with the desk in an Apex Legends shootout.

The smaller size means the loss of some features: the DPI count is down to 8,500 compared to 20K on the V2 with Razer's new Focus+ optical sensor. For those who play at lower DPI, this is not a big issue. For those who sacrifice speed for comfort, this will not be a problem. Also, the two upper and lower sensitivity buttons have been eliminated in favor of a single button that cycles through the presets.

However, these downgrades had little impact on my daily use; sessions of Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone, and Doom Eternal went off with little trouble. Daemons were taken down with flying colors and I won a few royals. However, I can say that my gameplay has improved since it was noted that the V2 Mini comes with textured grip tape.

In fact, had it not been for a follow-up from Razer's PR department, I would not have known that the grip tape was included in the mouse box. This grip tape has greatly improved the amount of time I spend using the mouse, as it can suddenly accommodate my unusually sweaty fingers after prolonged use. And it turns out that Razer offers the same grip tape bundled with the Deathadder V2 Mini for other gaming mice, available separately for $10 a piece.

The Mini is for gamers with smaller hands or users like me with noticeable claw grips. If you have hands like giant giants, opt for something that fits your hand better, like the ASUS ROG Spatha or the Corsair Ironclaw; the V2 Mini fit nicely in my right hand, and the groove on the left side was the perfect size to place my thumb.

While this little mouse loses some of the features that made the DeathAdder V2 a must-have gaming mouse, the V2 Mini retains a lot of the comfort expected in a solid gaming mouse. If you need a small, comfortable gaming mouse for only $50, the Razer Deathadder V2 Mini is the perfect snake-themed mouse for you.
